How To Maintain Your Air Conditioner

An air conditioning system is a contemporary convenience that keeps your household cool at all times. Yet, air conditioners lose their efficiency with time, especially if you do not maintain them properly. Some of the issues the air conditioner develops are inevitable due to the long period between service.

But, if you don't perform adequate maintenance, your system may malfunction due to grime, dust, and dirt accumulation. Lack of regular cleaning and maintenance may compel the unit to work excessively. Excessive work results in more energy consumptions, and eventually high energy bills. Consider the following tips to get the most of your air conditioner and save a few bucks.

Change Your Filters

Do you remember the last time you changed the filters on your air conditioner? Expendable filters in your HVAC system helps to keep it tidy and remove any contaminant from the air you inhale. Well, it's sensible to replace the filters within 1-3 months of use. If you or a loved one has allergies and has pets in your house, make sure you replace your filters more frequently.

Consider a highly efficient filter. You don't want to limit the units' airflow and put needless strain on it and lower its effectiveness. Clean the filters in ductless systems frequently and according to the package recommendations.

Air Conditioner Coils

The HAVC system's condenser and evaporator coils accumulate dust after a long period of use. If the filter is tidy, it keeps the evaporator clean. In contrast, the evaporator coil will continue to gather dust over time. This debris obstructs air circulation and insulates the coil. This action lowers its heat-absorbing capacity. To resolve this situation, inspect it once or twice every year, and keep it spotlessly clean.

If greenery exists near your home or the outside surrounding is dusty, outdoor condenser coils may become exceedingly unclean. The condenser coil is visible, and you can easily see when debris collects on its fins. Thus, keep debris and grime away as often as possible. These impurities can enter your home through lawn mowers, falling leaves, and dryer vents. Allowing for proper airflow around the condenser requires pruning foliage back, tidying the space around the coil, and pruning foliage back.

Look for Professional HVAC Contractors

People live busy lives such that family and other responsibilities take over them. During that time, you may not have enough time on your hand to worry about your air conditioner, even if you know how important it is to your household. Thus, look for air conditioning maintenance services from professionals who are well-versed in that area. Such professionals ensure that your unit is operating at peak efficiency. Also, they take care of other existing problems. It's a simple approach to safeguard your asset and your home's comfort.

About Me

The Comfort of Home

When I married my amazing husband ten years ago, I moved into the brick, ranch home he already owned. Immediately, I was thankful that the house was equipped with a central heating and air conditioning unit. This once efficient system kept me cool during the hot summer days. It also allowed me to remain warm in my home during the cold winter nights. Now, our air conditioning unit is twenty years old. Because of its age, the system has started to malfunction. Recently, my husband contacted an HVAC contractor about installing a new system at our home. This kind technician patched our old system to give us time to contemplate what type of new unit we want. On this blog, I hope you will discover the ways an HVAC contractor can help you continue to enjoy the comfort of your home.
