Investing In A New HVAC Unit? 3 Reasons To Invest In A Split System

If you are shopping for a heating and air conditioning unit, you probably know that you have a lot of options. Unfortunately, all of these options can be quite overwhelming, and although you know that you want a system that will heat and cool your home effectively, you might be at a loss as to which system you should buy. If you are thinking about investing in a new unit, you might be trying to decide between a split system and an all-inclusive unit. Although both can be a good option, these are a few benefits of a split system that you should consider.

Make Repairs Easier

One thing that you should consider about a split system is that it can make repairs cheaper and easier. If your heater goes out, your HVAC professional can simply fix your furnace without touching your air conditioning at all, and vice versa. This is not necessarily the case with an all-inclusive unit, since it shares a lot of components. Also, if you ever need to replace your furnace or your air conditioning system, you can simply replace the part that is malfunctioning without having to replace the entire system, which can definitely help you save money.

Avoid Taking Up Too Much Outdoor Space

If you love your yard, you might not like the idea of having an enormous system outside, taking up a lot of space. By their very nature, however, all-inclusive units are a lot bigger and take up a lot more outdoor space. If you are limited on outdoor space or just don't want a big unit getting in the way of your landscaping or enjoyment of your yard, a split system can be a better solution for you.

Stay Inside If It's Cold

Since the furnace is typically the indoor component, you don't have to go outside in the cold to perform maintenance on your unit like you do with an all-inclusive outdoor unit. Instead, you can change your filter, clean your furnace and otherwise take important maintenance steps from inside the house. This might not seem like a big deal, but if you find yourself performing outdoor maintenance on your unit in the middle of the cold winter, you might wish that your furnace was inside instead!

Both options can be good, but these are some of the perks of a split system. For more information, talk to your HVAC professional about your options and the benefits of each.

About Me

The Comfort of Home

When I married my amazing husband ten years ago, I moved into the brick, ranch home he already owned. Immediately, I was thankful that the house was equipped with a central heating and air conditioning unit. This once efficient system kept me cool during the hot summer days. It also allowed me to remain warm in my home during the cold winter nights. Now, our air conditioning unit is twenty years old. Because of its age, the system has started to malfunction. Recently, my husband contacted an HVAC contractor about installing a new system at our home. This kind technician patched our old system to give us time to contemplate what type of new unit we want. On this blog, I hope you will discover the ways an HVAC contractor can help you continue to enjoy the comfort of your home.
